Winter Comes

Winter Comes was a commission from photographer Gregory Georges of www.gregorygeorges.com. It started out as a beautiful portrait of the girl in a blue sweater with a colorful fall backdrop. We wanted to make something breathtaking and give it an ethereal quality, so I took it through Painter and hand painted the new background, and added most of the hair. I was trying to paint "winter" as an innocent, young girl that quietly takes over, instead of a harsh ominous entity. Mr. Georges has given me full permission to display this portrait with his name credited.

Blue

Blue was a commission from award winning photographer, Lonnie Hoke. I prepared the file using Photoshop CS2, and hand painted it in Painter 9. Typically with these sort of pieces, I add several hair extensions and use homemade brushes to make the background more "dream-like." This image was used in the PPSC competition this past year and took home some prestigious awards. You can see more of his photographs at lhoke.com. Note: Lonnie Hoke has given me permission to pose this image with his name credited.

The original photograph is by photographer Lonnie Hoke. I used Photoshop to prepare the portrait and change some levels and highlights, and then painted it in Painter 9. I love blown out white/sketchy looking pieces. Eventually, I'd like to do a "Haunting" series, where the subjects look like aparitions. Eventually....
Permission was granted by Lonnie Hoke to use as sample for Etherielle.
